Treetops Hospice

CASE STUDY

An incredible new, purpose built children’s bereavement & counselling centre has been constructed at the Treetops Hospice located in Derbyshire. The Treetops charity supports people with a range of life-limiting and long term conditions.

The project itself went from inception to completion in less than 3 months with the help of many volunteers. Through the help of BBC Children in Need fund, the BBC’s DIY SOS Build team was there to help establish this important centre. The single story building features a high performance building envelope, solar panels to the roof, high levels of insulation and careful detailing to reduce heat loss and running costs.

Nicholson supported the project through the supply of the ROOFTRAK® IFP250 Integrated Fixing Point to secure the solar array to the roof. This product enables a completely waterproof, low profile connection to the structure, eliminating the need for heavy and unsightly ballast and removing the risk of damage through the array moving in high winds.

Peace of mind comes from knowing that the array has a tested, long term mechanical connection to the structure.

The ROOFTRAK-IFP Integrated Fixing Point system has been developed specifically around the challenging scenario of providing a connection to the building structure whilst maintaining 100% integrity of the weathering membrane. There are different fittings available to provide for most types of roof construction and the IFP system is compatible with all roofing membranes.
